The Last Daze of Romance

Jason Sypsa This was a surprise find from a good friend who I know will eventually defeat the painful affliction she daily suffers with a grace and patience that puts all us relatively healthy folks to shame. She is a beautiful soul too pure and compassionate for this cruel world but intent on helping others even while she can barely care for her own needs. Please listen attentively to her story and I guarantee you will leave a changed person.

Hey guys! I decided to re-release Last Daze for a limited time. If you didn't attend a show of mine about a decade ago, you've most likely never heard this. I never uploaded it. I'm doing this NOW because so many people are asking for new music but my ongoing battle with Trigeminal Neuralgia prevents me from performing for now and this is the next best thing I could think of to give you. Plus, sales from this album will help TONS w/income while I'm working very very hard to get better enough to get back to work & a new album. I'll be adding new stuff in the coming weeks and you can "unlock" bonus content (unlisted merch) by leaving me your email or snail mail addy as a note with your payment, should you graciously choose to pay more than the bottom line price for the album. Surprises abound. Could be an unreleased track. Might be a video. May be something entirely unexpected. REMEMBER TO LEAVE YOUR ADDY for extras. Stick around & check back often because more odds & ends + the super secret squirrel incentives are on their way! Thanks so much for your support!! ... more

Trepidation 04:01
In these last days of romance I've chanced to hear the footsteps of the waking ones condemned to walk these halls - Alone in the witching hour, setting all the walls on fire- absent of true desire, it's sleep that brought me here. In this place where lifeless ghosts hang close at hand, I've glanced into eternal reticence - fractured by and by. This nightly invocation - a ghastly congregation - my fascination brought me just beyond the safety of my bed Through stained glass windows they fall like dominoes and scream for more as they come crashing to the floor. Inside the nightmare they'll fight for the very instinct they lost at a far greater cost than the effort exhausted in dreams. I know this will soon become surreal. I hope my heart will cease to feel the aching solitude of the embers burning slow. Then Time, blowing cold for certain, will raise the curtain for one final scene - and it's gonna be a scream. They'll crash undefined through the windows of my mind, then tumble faint between the jagged lines. Through painted glass left undisguised - the panes explode behind my eyes - but not for dreams. They merely seem to keep my reverie alive. By and by I hear the gentle lullaby. But should I fall asleep, I fear my soul won't keep. I'll be along but not before my fire is gone. This fate is mine, captive to Time. This place - distressed, divine - flawlessly designed.

Indentured 03:50
A telescopic view of a sullen hue in solace dressed Chases away all the fear to save for last the best duress Then Daylight ends its West procession Impaled by Night in starry session Transcendental pain - a mind that breathes Cross the threshold - Crash the door - Expel the demons held before But still the body seethes Peel off the names All up in flames Step into surrendered, mortal, faithless elegance Charred intentions less entranced Death's worth less than dying dreams when staked on claims ripped at the seams - a lesson never learned And trickling down from rolling veins of lifeless souls on higher planes The essence of morality is always 1st to burn If Time list count in retrospect, we'd never reach the end Years of standing up and yet we all fall down again Peel off the names All up in flames Step into surrendered, mortal, faithless elegance Charred intentions less entranced Climb down inside. No place left to hide. Twice cursed - a soul The 1st to lose control Peel off the names All up in flames Step into surrendered, mortal, faithless elegance Charred intentions less entranced

In Memoriam 02:33
They gave this world to us to do with what we would It's no surprise we never could And still their beating hearts pump life into the words we never spoke They never heard the sound Of Fury in the darkest hour, Glory on the darkest day Mark the page the age-old sages penned in dead of night Siphon the souls still burning bright A thousand blessings counted back against the cost Another breath - Another lost She looked with my eyes when the angels finally came I say through hers and then she sang Of Fury in the darkest hour, Glory on the darkest day Mark the page the age-old sages penned in dead of night Stifle the souls still burning bright Fury in the darkest hour - Glory on the darkest day We turned the page on age-old sages reared against the night Her soul was free, still burning bright

Last Man Out 03:50
One fell down - He couldn't win - Indulge this sin Far too early too be tanked when that good son sank Western world lost 9 miles back and welcome to the night He searched the dim horizon for a new mind out of sight He'd been ahead til Lady Luck fled and since been traveling down Through this one horse town Dusty dirt roads, Western clothes - Last Do-Si-Do Swinging doors that never close might offer hope "Come inside and rest your mind. Leave Trouble to the day. Bet your bottom dollar there will soon enough be Hell to pay. The girls will surely dance down at the old Last Chance for you. Then you'll be through." He left his strings unraveled blowing in the breeze Enough to wrap the noose round tight and drop him to his knees It was a battle forged in haste Nothing left but human waste Last man out - He wouldn't fold to save his soul Red - Black - The Devil's throes But God only knows Cold cold nights and neon lights will chill you to the bones He played a hand that couldn't deal with the stakes assuming all control Whiskey killed the memory but damned him at the end It was more than he ever had to spend

Madaline 02:22
What will the Day in all its wisdom bring? Not more than you can imagine in dreams Just close your eyes and believe Madaline tell me - How will your garden grow? Little flower lay close and know All the night long I'll be here to keep your secrets while you sleep The whole world begins inside those wandering eyes All that it offers, you'll have if you try Don't be afraid to ask why Madaline tell me - How will your garden grow? Little flower, lay close and know All the night long I'll be here to keep your secrets while you sleep Eyes to the sky. I wish that I could see what you see thru those eyes. Soon you will see, as the Day unwinds All of your questions will be answered in time. You've brought the answers to mine.

Ignition 03:51
Bet you thought you were safe - Bet you thought you'd be fine Bet you thought you could sleep through the storm But now it's time to rise and shine Wait for me here at the pinnavle of Fear I will be the last thing you see Now I have come - The Chosen One Now it's time to feel the heat - I have come To light up the dark with explosive eyes Catch a glimpse of sanctity before it burns away with me Explosive emotion intensifies tonight If you hoped you might find what was lost to the Day In the harrowing face of the Night All I am would yet remain Take all this in - the blood and the sin I'll consume your soul I'll swallow it whole Let the fire engulf you now - I will drag your body down Behind the setting sun - I have come I'm the one - the one Who'll light up the dark with explosive eyes Catch a glimpse of sanctity before it burns away with me Explosive emotion intensifies tonight Out of the ashes I rise unto a hollow Earth. I will light up the dark with explosive eyes Catch a glimpse of sanctity before it burns away Expulsive emotion intensifies tonight

Little boys aren't afraid of the things they see in the darks of their dreams Little girls hold the secret to life in a world that's far less than it seems Fall away from the light - Far away in the night There'll be time for dancing and dreaming all night For now put your head down and pray When it's over and through then you'll find something new Then it's all about breaking the day We crossed the lines every night in our minds But the hands never once followed suit Still I can't understand the pale motives of man When the quest lies in hollow pursuit Fall away from the light - Find me here in the night We've lived through the dancing and drinking all night Worked hard keeping daydreams at bay When it's over and through then we'll find something new Then it's all about breaking the day Faintly I can feel it's coming down to what we thought would be surreal And nothing matters but the shadows thrown on shapeless faces What have I become tonight? And what did I miss when I fell into the light? Move over - Time is on its way - Tonight we broke the day

Dream of Me 03:56
My very last goodbye I might've loved the boy beneath the pain Southside of paradise - Is that what you saw When you opened up your eyes? One breath for every tear Eyes kissed by the man with sand in his hand Bones and poison, I fear, are all that remain Of the body that left me here Lay down the light is gone With it goes the lonesome soul Leave me here to wake alone Just close your eyes and dream of me My very last goodbye I might've wandered the length of this pain Follow me down - down tonight Whispering shade - Alive tonight Lay down the light is gone With it goes the lonesome soul Leave me here to wake alone Just close your eyes and dream of me I wandered the length of the night Fell asleep and dreamed of those eyes And all souls - and all time Alive tonight Lay down the light is gone With it goes the lonesome soul Leave me here. Go wake alone. Just close your eyes and dream of me

60 Seconds 03:00
How long must we wait to face this fate? Abomination breeds mistake The listless soul awakes I've taken all that I can take This time the ticket's at the station One last subservient temptation Purgatory's one withdraw The train's at last derailed - We've wrecked us one & all I've got no time to stay This time I'm really leaving here I know the game much better than you ever thought I could This time I'm gone for good We have only one stop left to make One lingering gesture to reciprocate Just 60 seconds left to live I've given all that I can give When there's no one left to stand up on the stage To justify a war that's always, ever raged A cheap demise - a brief descent This isn't nearly what they must have meant
10.
Hearts and stars when love was ours and life was sane I choked on words I couldn't speak and washed them down with pain You took a drag and breathed me out and smoke got in my eyes You flushed them out with cold, hard truth I covered them with lies Take this hand and walk away 2 hearts forever carved into a playground slide into the day When nightmares turn to dreams and yet it seems I see you better in the dark of things Crushed too hard - We'll make this loneliness a scream A melancholy, momentary change of scene Strike a match to save the light - the air grows ever colder Torch a bridge in dead of night - at dawn we'll watch it smolder Take this hand and walk away 2 hearts forever carved into a playground slide into the day When nightmares turn to dreams and yet it seems I see you better in the dark of things

about

Last Daze is more of a journal than a cohesive body of work. It's rough, raw, flawed, and contains a LOT of in the moment moments. My own daughter falls asleep to it every single night. I hope you'll find it as intimate as the experience of creating it was.
